Primo Amore
[First Love – 2018/2020]
Primo Amore (First Love); I think of this every time I walk and lose myself in my little town by the sea, Porto San Giorgio. First love is never forgotten, most past moments become, over time, idealized narratives, poetic visions that preserve within themselves the truth of an intimate, personal, and not at all objective feeling.
The macrocosm of the sea, heritage of humanity, flows into the microcosm of my life; in the photos there is me, my daughter, there are my friends, the fishermen, the sangiorgesi (locals); each shot is a romantic letter written with light. The project is structured in two major themes, the sea and the town, and is currently underway.
CHAPTER 1: THE SEA
From 2018 until the alienating summer of 2020 I narrated my town starting from the sea, from the Fishing Port – the soul of the town – where I portrayed myself in front of the fish market at dawn like a fish out of water. This was the beginning of a long visual and visionary day that ended at sunset two years later. This is the fil rouge that links the sequence of image; a day in which the time span of 24 hours expands to 24 months. On this day everything is possible, the images are simple and powerful, the people and objects portrayed are all part of a story with an open ending, a story where Porto San Giorgio becomes the place that introduces the dream.
